As a Southampton native, I began my career at my family's construction management firm while still in high school, cleaning up construction sites and doing demolition on projects. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the best practices within home construction and exposure to working with the various trades on a project. Having the ability to communicate effectively and deeply with everyone from the owner to the plumber sets me apart from other Owner’s Representatives.
About 10 years into my career, I noted a service void in the custom home building process. That void was a single voice to speak exclusively to the owner's best interest with a complete understanding of construction and the financial and legalities in the custom home building process. This void and my passion for creating systems to increase communication, transparency, and efficiency in the construction process made the transition from Construction Manager to Owner's Representative a natural next step.
Custom home building is a full-time job managing all the necessary decisions, consultants, schedules, legalities, and budgets. I am the eyes and ears of a project, ensuring everything is moving smoothly and the homeowner or investor's best interests are fulfilled.
The best financial decisions related to home design and construction are made with reliable data, experience, and a strong knowledge of the local market. With this in mind, I obtained my real estate license in 2012 to bring my clients, both homeowners, and investors alike more value. I spent the next 6 years watching market trends and making connections that benefit my clients still today.
Developing a metric based process at the start of a custom home project is the only way to ensure schedules and budgets are maintained. The adage ‘Time is Money’ becomes visibly evident when a schedule is broken, and you begin to see budget creep. Work done during the pre-construction phase is the most important part of the process based on my 20+ years of experience in homebuilding. My strength is seeing the most effective path forward at the start of a project.
Over the years, I have repeatedly seen how spreadsheet project management can cause financial and schedule issues. To prevent data failure, I manage projects on two very robust automated systems. One to manage the construction process and the other to manage the project’s budget. These systems provide accuracy, excellent project documentation, and help streamline communication within the project team. Reliable data
